Track And Field Has 22 Top-Three Finishes Friday

Multiple Tigers set personal-bests in final meet before conference championships.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – University of Memphis' Parker Evans, Christian Hill, Adam Neelly and Kacie Scott all recorded personal-bests in multiple events to pace the track and field team's effort at the Redhawks Open Friday evening. The meet was the final one before next weekend's American Athletic Conference Championships.

The Tigers men's and women's squads combined for 22 top-three performances and six titles.

Evans and Neelly posted personal-bests in both the men's shot put and weight throw. Hill put up her personal-best marks in the women's long and triple jumps. On the track, Scott recorded her personal-bests in the women's 55 meters and 55-meter hurdles.

The Tigers travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 22-23. The Birmingham Crossplex is the host site for the championships.

- Christian Hill, a freshman, improved her personal-bests in the long jump by two inches and the triple jump by seven inches.Â
- Adam Neelly's shot put effort Friday surpassed his indoor previous-best that he set at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships. He won bronze in the shot put at last year's indoor conference meet. His weight throw mark improved on his previous-best he recorded in the Jan. 25 A-State Invitational.
- Parker Evans shattered his previous-bests in the indoor shot put by three feet and in the weight throw by over a foot. Both of his previous-bests were posted earlier this season at the Vanderbilt Opener (shot put) and South Alabama Jaguar Invitational (weight throw).
- Joining Kacie Scott in improving their 55-meters times were Dionna Dennis, Jamaya Fleming and Tanalya Gordon.
- Samantha Lenton and Amber Simpson threw personal-bests in the women's indoor shot put. Lenton improved her mark by three inches.
- Adar Sheere surpassed his previous-best in the men's weight throw by five inches. On the women's side, Vigdis Jonsdottir also improved her mark by five inches in the weight throw.
- Sandra Ekblom set a personal-best in the women's indoor triple jump, improving on her previous mark by three inches.
- Ladasia Walton set a personal-best in the women's indoor high jump.
