Women's hoops faces Little Rock on the road

Tuesday's tip slated for 6:30 p.m.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Winners of five of its last six, the Memphis women's basketball team takes a short ride to Little Rock to face the Trojans at the Jack Stephens Center on Tuesday. Tipoff against the Trojans is set for 6:30 p.m.

Memphis enters the week with back-to-back 25-plus point victories after defeating Arkansas State 78-50 on Sunday. Jamirah Shutes led the way with 17 points, while Keke Hunter added an 11-point, 17-rebound double-double. Hunter's 17 rebounds are the most by a player in The American this season. For her performance, Hunter was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
Shutes continues to lead the Tigers in scoring, notching 16.8 points per game, an average that ranks fifth in the AAC. The sophomore also checks in at third in the conference in assists and steals, dishing 4.2 assists per game and coming away with 2.5 steals a night. Against Arkansas State, Shutes tied a career-high with four three-pointers.
Memphis currently boasts the third-highest scoring offense in The American, sitting at 69.2 points per game. The Tigers are also third in field goal percentage (41.5 percent), steals (9.8), blocks (4.5) and three-point defense (28.6 percent).
Little Rock is the second Sun Belt team the Tigers have faced this season, after playing Arkansas State on Sunday.
Scouting the Trojans
Little Rock righted the ship in its last game, ending a three-game losing streak with a 63-51 win over AAC foe Tulsa. The Trojans held the Golden Hurricane to 33 percent shooting, including a 2-for-12 performance from three-point range.
Kyra Collier, who led the way with 19 points against Tulsa, has been the leading scorer all year for Little Rock, averaging 16.8 points per contest. Her scoring average clocks in at third in the Sun Belt. Collier is 16-of-17 from the free throw line this season, helping her team shoot a Sun Belt-best 75 percent from the charity stripe.
The Trojans' nonconference schedule pits the team against some of the premier programs in the country. Little Rock opened the season against No. 6/7 Texas A&M before facing LSU on Nov. 13. Immediately after playing Memphis, the Trojans will face two teams ranked in the top-25 in No. 21/20 Arkansas followed by No. 15/14 Mississippi State.
Little Rock is under the direction of head coach Joe Foley, now in his 17th season. In his career, Foley has won nearly 800 games, including over 300 at Little Rock.
