Team Buffet walks off Team Special Order to open Garibaldi's World Series

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis baseball kicked off its annual Garibaldi's World Series in dramatic fashion, as Team Buffet claimed a 10-9 walk-off win against Team Special Order on Sunday evening at FedExPark.
Trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the 10th, redshirt junior Ian Bibiloni connected on a 2-RBI double to secure the Game 1 win for Team Buffet.
Bibiloni finished the day 4-for-9 at the plate with three RBI. Redshirt junior Evan Bell went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and stole a pair of bases for Team Buffet.
Bailey Wimberley earned the win on the mound, tossing the final two frames of the game and registering three strikeouts.
Offensively, Team Buffet put the leadoff hitter on base in five of the 10 innings. After trailing 4-1 after the third inning, Team Buffet answered on the mound with three out of four holding chances following an offensive run scored.
For Team Special Order, junior Zach Wilson was 3-for-4 at the dish with a stolen base. Freshman Taylor Howell turned in a 2-for-4 day, while senior Alec Trela hit a two-run homer.
Game 2 of the series is slated for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The seven-inning matchup will feature redshirt junior Landon Kelly against redshirt freshman Blake Wimberley.
