Men's tennis posts nine wins on first day of Regional Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Memphis men's tennis tallied nine total wins behind a strong first day at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by Vanderbilt.
In singles, six Tigers advanced to the second round of the 128-field main draw. Oscar Cutting, Jan Pallares and Jeremy Taylor turned in straight-set decisions in their respective matches, while Matt Story, Patrick Sydow and James Story outlasted their opponents in three sets to advance.
A pair of Tiger tandems combined for three wins to reaching the third round of the main doubles draw. James Story and Matt Story began their tournament with an 8-2 victory, and then turned in an 8-6 win in the second round.
After a first-round bye, duo Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson, who drew the No. 2 seed in doubles, collected an 8-4 win to advance to the third round.
