McMiller Sets Weight Throw Record Again

Tigers win 10 individual titles, including McMiller's two in weight throw, shot put.
JONESBORO, Ark. – For the third time in as many meets this indoor season, University of Memphis' DeeNia McMiller reset her school record in the women's weight throw. In Friday action at the A-State Invitational, McMiller surpassed her previous 66-5 (20.24m) school-record mark with a 66-11.25 (20.40m) effort.

McMiller initially claimed the school record in the event during the 2017-18 indoor season when she posted a 65-3.25 (19.89m) throw. Since then, she's reset the record three times in 2018-19. Her first record throw this season was 65-10.25 (20.07m) at the Dec. 1 Vanderbilt Opener. Then, last weekend, McMiller passed that mark with a 66-5 (20.24m) effort at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Her throw Friday ranks second in the American Athletic Conference and 21stnationally.

- Memphis won 10 titles at the A-State Invitational (men: 4/women: 6).
- The Tigers women's team claimed the top-four spots in the women's weight throw with DeeNia McMiller first, Mona Jaidi second, Amber Simpson third and Samantha Lenton fourth. All four set personal-bests in the weight throw. The average improvement in the personal-bests for the four combined was 14.8 inches.
- Noah Agnew won his first career indoor high jump title Friday. It also was his sixth career indoor top-three finish.
