Memphis Extends Winning Streak To Eight With Win Over BGSU

Tigers run-rule Falcons behind complete game by Molly Smith and 14 team hits
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Another complete game effort by Molly Smith and 14 team hits led the University of Memphis softball team to a 9-1 run-rule victory over Bowling Green State Saturday afternoon. Memphis has now won the last eight games as it improves to 15-5 on the year. The 15-5 start is the best start for Memphis since the 2011 season.

Memphis scattered its runs out throughout five of the six innings played. The Tigers first capitalized in bottom of the second inning by scoring three runs on five hits. The hits kept on rolling for the Tigers as Brooke Lee launched her fifth home run of the season in the third inning to put Memphis up 5-1.

The Tigers finished with 14 hits including six players with a multi-hit contest. Molly Smith hurled her eighth complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out five.

- Six players recorded multi-hit games including Jessie Lamb who went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a drawn walk.
- This was the third-straight run-rule victory for the Tigers.
- Kyler Trosclair Klatt extended her hitting streak to 12 games.
- Memphis has won 11 out of the last 12 games.
- Brooke Lee led the Tigers with three runs batted in. Baylee Smith also drove in two.
- Memphis drew six walks while striking out just twice. The Tigers now have 55 walks this season to 54 strikeouts.
- The Tigers pitching corps strikeout-to-walk ratio is one strikeout shy of being exactly 4-to-1 after Smith's 5-to-1 outing against the Falcons.
- Kendall Lee recorded her team leading fifth hit in a pinch-hit situation.

- Bottom 2 – Memphis registered five-straight singles, including Erin Parker's RBI single down the left field line to score Regan Hadley and Baylee Smith's single down the right field line to score Jessie Lamb. With one out and Parker on third, Addison Maxwell hit a sacrifice fly to left field. (3 runs, 5 hits, 1 errors, 2 left on base)
- Top 3 – A solo home run to left field cut the Memphis lead down to 3-1. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left on base)
- Bottom 3 – Delaney Smith singled to lead off the inning and scored on Brooke Lee's two-run home run to left field. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 1 left on base)
- Bottom 4 – Back-to-back walks by Maxwell and Ashley Threatt with one out set up Brooke Lee who singled to right center, driving in her third RBI of the contest. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
- Bottom 5 – Baylee Smith hit a sacrifice fly to right field with Jessie Lamb on third base. Lamb led the inning off with a bunt single. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
- Bottom 6 – Memphis did not record an out in the inning as all five batters reached base. Ashley Threatt led the inning off with a walk and came around to score on a pinch-hit single by Kendall Lee. With the bases loaded, Lamb drew a walk to bring in the game-ending run. (2 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on base)
