Memphis Announces 2019 Baseball Schedule

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Highlighted by an Opening Weekend series against Indiana at FedExPark, the University of Memphis has announced its 2019 baseball schedule. The Tigers open the season on February 15-17 with the Indiana Hoosiers, who have played in the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six seasons.
"We are thrilled with the challenges that the 2019 schedule will bring to this team," head coach Daron Schoenrock said. "Our players are anxious to tackle the tests that will be presented by our normal non-conference foes as well as the tremendous American Athletic Conference battles that we face every weekend."
Memphis will play 34 total home games, including hosting Ole Miss at AutoZone Park on March 27 at 6 p.m. The Tigers have been playing a select number of games at AutoZone Park for well over a decade, and will play just one this season.
The Tigers face a pair of road trips to College World Series participants from last season, Arkansas (Feb. 27) and Mississippi State (May 8).
Memphis welcomes Southern Illinois back to FedExPark on Feb. 22-24 after hosting the Salukis in 2017. The teams also played a series Carbondale, Ill. during the 2016 season. The Tigers lead the all-time series 8-5 and the teams are 3-3 against each other in the most recent meetings.
Following the Tigers' trip to Fayetteville, Ark., to play at Arkansas, Middle Tennessee comes to Memphis for a three-game series to open the month of March. The teams played three times last season, with Memphis winning two of three.
The Tigers first weekend road trip of the season is to Western Kentucky to face the Hilltoppers, March 8-10. Memphis opened the season against WKU at home last season.
Memphis will host a first-time opponent, UNC Wilmington, on March 15-17 before beginning conference play. The Seahawks played in the NCAA Tournament last season, advancing to the regional final in Greenville, N.C.
The Tigers first American Athletic Conference series will be the program's first trip to Wichita State. Memphis and Wichita State will meet at Eck Stadium on March 22-24.
Other road series in the American are at UConn, UCF and ECU. Memphis hosts Houston, Tulane, USF and Cincinnati in league play.
The American Athletic Conference tournament will take place in Clearwater, Fla. at the end of May. The top eight teams in the American advance to the conference tournament.
