MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Austin Baskin, an infielder from Covington High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the University of Memphis baseball program for the 2020 season, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced.
"Austin has tremendous knowledge of the game and possesses all of the tools to become a very good Division I infielder. We love the fact that he has been a part of a program with tremendous winning tradition and are thrilled to get him in the Tiger Blue," Schoenrock said.
Baskin led the Covington Chargers to the state tournament, batting .400 with seven homers and 40 RBI in 2018. He was a finalist for the TBCA's Mr. Baseball award in Class AA. Baskin was named the District 15-AA Player of the Year, first team all-district and district all-tournament team. Baskin was also named to the Commercial Appeal all-metro team.
Baskin is the son of Randal and Lisa Baskin.
