Tigers hold steady in 11th place at the Intercollegiate at The Grove

Newcomer Isaiah Jackson leads the Tigers on Day 2 with a 1-under 71
COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – Isaiah Jackson fired a 1-under 71 in the second round of the Intercollegiate at The Grove and was the only University of Memphis golfer to shoot under par Monday. Overall, the Tigers remained in 11th place.

Jackson's 71 gave him a two-day total of 1-over-par-145 through 36 holes at The Grove Club, a 7,368-yard layout that plays to a par of 72. Jackson is in his first season after transferring from Meridian (Miss.) Community College.

Memphis, in 11th place after Sunday's opening round, is at 21-over par 597 after posting a 12-over 300 Monday. Fellow American Athletic Conference member USF leads the event at 12-under 564 after finishing one shot behind Kennesaw State in Sunday's opening round. Kennesaw State shot even-par 288 Monday to drop back to fifth.

The Tigers had only two other golfers shoot in the 70s: Bradley Bawden finished with a 73 for 146 and Chase Harris shot a 75 for 147. Landon Carner (81 for 159) and Mikko Kauniskangas (82 for 162) were the other Memphis golfers participating in the 54-hole event, which ends Tuesday.

Individually, Alexandre Fuchs of Liberty will take the lead into Tuesday's final round. He shot 6-under 66 and is at 8-under 136. Albin Bergstrom of USF (137) is one shot back and Gabe Lench of Liberty (138) is two strokes back. Bergstrom and Lench also shot 66s Monday.
