Senior Day ceremony prior to Saturday’s 1 p.m. rubber match

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth but came up just short, losing 9-6 Friday at FedExPark. The loss for Memphis evened the series between the Tigers (29-26, 8-15 AAC) and Green Wave (26-29, 12-11 AAC), setting up the rubber match Saturday at 1 p.m.

Prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. series finale the Tigers will honor their six seniors – Andy Bowman, Chris Carrier, Ryan Garner, Brandon Grudzielanek, Zach Schritenthal and Trent Turner.

Memphis went into the bottom of the ninth trailing 9-1 before rattling off five runs on six hits and two walks. The Tigers did all of the damage with two outs after a double play. In all, seven straight Tigers hitters reached base before Tulane called on closer Christian Colletti to end the game.

Tulane took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run to the start the game before Memphis starting pitcher Colton Hathcock struck out the next three batters to end the top of the first inning. Hathcock finished with four innings pitched and six strikeouts.

The Tigers had a great chance to get on the board in the second when Alec Trela blasted a double off the wall in center field to start the inning but he was stranded at third.

Memphis did get a run back in the fifth after Zach Schritenthal started the inning with a double to right-center field. He advanced to third on an infield single by Andy Bowman and scored on an RBI fielder's choice groundout by Colton Neel.

The Green Wave answered right back though, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth and then four more runs in the top of the seventh to go up 9-1.

Trela, Schritenthal and Bowman each finished with two hits in the game, while Neel was 1-for-3 with four runs driven in.
