Softball Finishes Tiger Classic With 4-0 Record

Tigers come from behind in both games Saturday to improve to 15-11 overall
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team improved to 15-11 Saturday afternoon after picking up a pair of wins over Saint Louis and Eastern Kentucky. The Tigers came from behind to defeat Saint Louis by a score of 3-2 in eight innings and Eastern Kentucky by a 4-2 margin.

Saint Louis scored two runs early and kept the Tigers at bay offensively until the bottom of the seventh inning. To lead off the inning, Addison Maxwell reached on a throwing error by the Billiken shortstop. That resulted in the next five Tigers reaching base including Lindsey Stickrod's two-RBI single up the middle to tie up the contest.

Memphis then won the game in the bottom of the eighth after Lindsay Crowdus scored on a dropped line drive hit by Regan Hadley.

The Tigers found themselves down in game two, 2-0, in the bottom of the third, but quickly got a pair of runs back while taking advantage of a Colonel throwing error.

Memphis added two more in the bottom of the fifth to takeover the lead. Christian Novak then stepped in to pick up the six-out save, her second of the season.

Game 1 – Memphis 3, Saint Louis 2 (8 innings)
Top 3 – Saint Louis took the early 2-0 lead after putting a single and back-to-back doubles together with one out. (2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Bottom 7 – Addison Maxwell got the offense started in the seventh after reaching base on a Saint Louis error. After a Lindsay Crowdus walk and Regan Hadley single through the right side, the bases were loaded for Lindsey Stickrod. Stickrod proceeded to single up the middle, scoring Maxwell and Crowdus. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 errors, 3 left on base)
Bottom 8 – Lindsay Crowdus reached on a fielder's choice and with two outs, advanced to second and third on stolen bases. Regan Hadley hit a ball hard at the left fielder, who dropped it, and it resulted in Crowdus scoring. (1 run, 0 hits, 1 error, 1 left on base)

Top 1 – With two outs and a runner on second, the Colonels doubled to left field. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 0 left on base)
Top 2 – A single followed up by a double with two outs scored the second run of the game (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Bottom 3 – Memphis loaded the bases on a walk and a pair of singles for Lindsay Crowdus. Crowdus then reached base on a throwing error by the second baseman, allowing for two runs to score. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 2 left on base)
Bottom 5 – Kyler Trosclair singled up the middle to lead off the inning. After stealing second, Trosclair advanced to third on a bunt single by Lindsay Crowdus. Lindsay Stickrod drove home two on a single through the right side. (2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)

- Molly Smith struck out eight and allowed just two walks as she improved to 5-5 with the win over Saint Louis.
- Kyler Trosclair extended her hitting streak to nine games, matching a career-high. She finished with three hits on Saturday.
- Trosclair finished with two stolen bases, which improves her season total to 20. She is just five stolen bases away from matching the program record of 57.
- Katie Brignac improved to 5-1 on and year while Christian Novak picked up her second save against Eastern Kentucky.
- Novak finished the weekend with a 0.48 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched. She allowed just one run and struck out 16.
