Memphis had its hand full in the morning match as Lamar University came out and put up a strong fight in doubles play.
"Our doubles is starting to come around, so we're excited with the wins today. We've been changing up our doubles lineup and our partners a little bit. Everyone is doing the same thing, so it's about changing up the components and seeing that they can still get it done. We're a strong team throughout the singles lineup, but if you can get that doubles point, it's such an emotional lift for your team," Head Coach Hayden Perez said.
The doubles team of Anki Wind and Katherine Cao played at one in the morning match and fought back from an early break to retake the lead at 3-2. The duo then powered through to a 6-4 win for Memphis' first win of the day. Teammates Hanna Sohn and Marta Morga sealed the doubles point for Memphis with a 6-3 win at three doubles.
Morga was then the first player through her singles match, booking a 6-1, 6-1 win at four for a 2-0 Tiger lead. Missouri State answered back with a win at six to make it 2-1, but Katherine Cao pushed Memphis ahead, 3-1, with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at five. Anki Wind then closed out her straight set win at two singles, 7-5, 6-1, for the final 4-1 victory.

Memphis then went through singles play without dropping a set for the final 7-0 score.
Memphis closes out a busy week with a pair of matches in Houston this weekend. Memphis will play at conference foe Houston, Saturday, at noon and at #38 ranked Rice, Sunday, at 11 a.m.
"We have a tough weekend with Houston and Rice, but that's what these matches were for, was preparing us for those opportunities," Perez said.
