Tigers Fall to No. 6 Oklahoma in Opening ITA Kickoff Weekend Match

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team suffered a 0-4 defeat to Oklahoma in its opening match of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Norman, Oklahoma, on Friday.

Tiger pairings Emma Dvorackova/Clemence Thouard and Natalia Koppova/Alicia Mall took losses as Oklahoma took the doubles point early. Sofiia Mykhailets and newest Tiger Marina Lubsheva were down 1-4 before Oklahoma clinched the doubles point.

The Tigers fought hard in singles, winning two first sets. Sophomore Sofiia Mykhailets took the first set of her match 7-5, and freshman Alicia Mall claimed an early lead against No. 24 Julia Garcia Ruiz with a 6-3 first-set win. Both matches would go unfinished as Oklahoma's lines four, five and six all claimed wins to close the 4-0 victory for the Sooners.

Memphis will look to bounce back against Yale in the consolation match on Sunday, January 25^th at 11 a.m.
