Tigers Fall to Yale to Close Out ITA Kickoff Weekend

Norman, Okla. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team closed ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 1-4 loss to the Yale Bulldogs in Norman, Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Tiger pairing of Sofiia Mykhailets/Marina Lubsheva fell to Yale's No. 12 Leena Friedman/Orly Ogilvy 1-6 to start the doubles competition. Yale would later clinch the doubles point after Emma Dvorackova/Clemence Thouard fell to Erin Ha/Angela Huang 4-6.
In singles, Yale claimed its second point after Erin Ha defeated Marina Lubsheva 6-0, 6-0. Tiger freshman Natalia Koppova would claim the first point of the season for the Tigers with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Julia Werdiger. Soon after, Emma Dvorackova and Clemence Thouard would both suffer defeat to clinch the match for the Bulldogs. Sofiia Mykhailets and Alicia Mall's matches would go unfinished with Mykhailets winning the second set of her match and Mall leading 5-3 in her second set.
Memphis drops to 0-2 and will play its first home match Friday, Jan. 30 against Illinois at Leftwich Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free.
