Tigers Pick Up Two Wins in Loss to BYU

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team picked up wins at line one doubles and line three singles in their 1-4 loss to BYU at the Leftwich Tennis Center on Saturday.
Tiger duo Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova put on a dominant display at line one doubles winning their match 6-1. Freshman pairing Natalia Koppova/Alicia Mall and sophomore pairing Clemence Thouard/Rebecca Frant both dropped their doubles matches 4-6 as BYU claimed the doubles point and an early lead.
Singles brought close competition with sophomore Sofiia Mykhailets and freshman Natalia Koppova both winning their first sets. Court six was first off as Rebecca Frant suffered a 2-6, 1-6 defeat to put the Cougars up two. Koppova struck back for the Tigers, clinching her match 7-5, 6-3 to get the Tigers on the board. Courts two and four were next to finish, both ending in BYU victories. Two matches were left unfinished including Sofiia Mykhailets' match in which she was leading 6-1, 5-3.
Memphis falls to 0-3 and will look to bounce back tomorrow, Feb. 8, against Arkansas State at Leftwich Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free.
