Tigers Fall At No. 1 UConn Saturday

The Tigers return home for Senior Night against Tulane Monday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team fell Saturday afternoon to No. 1 Connecticut by a score of 91-48 inside a sold-out Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
The Tigers fall to 13-15 on the year and 6-9 in American Athletic Conference play with one game remaining on the regular season schedule. The victory for UConn was its 103rd win in a row, dating back to Nov. 2014.
How It Happened
UConn scored the first six points of the contest before Taylor Williams found Cheyenne Creighton inside for her first points of the game. Williams went on to knock down a three-pointer with 8:18 left in the first to cut the UConn lead down to three, 8-5.
The Huskies rattled off 16-0 run to take a 24-5 lead over Memphis. The Tigers had an answer with a 6-0 run by Creighton, Loysha Morris, and Brea Elmore to make it 24-11 Huskies.
Elmore accounted for five of the seven points Memphis scored in the second quarter.
UConn continued to build onto its lead throughout the remainder of the contest. In the middle of the third quarter, Creighton and Elmore eclipsed the double-digit mark to lead Memphis.
Memphis and UConn each scored 15 points in the fourth quarter. The 15 points by Memphis was the most in a quarter for the Tigers Saturday afternoon. The Tigers finished the game on an 8-0 run over the Huskies.
Turning Point
With the score at 8-5 in the first quarter, UConn rattled off a 16-0 run to take a 24-5 lead over Memphis. The Huskies finished the game shooting 55 percent from the floor with nine three-pointers while the Tigers shot 31 percent with four made threes.

The Tigers return home Monday night for the final game of the regular season. Memphis will honor seniors Loysha Morris and Taylor Williams prior to tip-off against the Tulane Green Wave. Notables
- Brea Elmore made a three-pointer in the second quarter, marking the 20th straight game with a made three-pointer.
- Cheyenne Creighton registered her eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She was the only player on the floor to record a double-double.
- Elmore led the Tigers with 19 points, the second most points a Tiger has scored against Connecticut. Ariel Hearn dropped 20 back in 2014.
- Memphis outscored UConn 23-21 with points off of the bench.
- Elmore hit three, three-pointers for the Tigers, marking the fifth game this season she had hit at least three, threes.
