Going into Thursday's game against Grambling State, here are some things to know about the Memphis women's basketball team. Â
Â
- Cheyenne Creighton, with 19 points in Tuesday's win, is now just 74 points shy of the 1,000-point mark. If she continues on the pace she is on, she will become the 24th player in program history and sixth under head coach Melissa McFerrin to reach the milestone.
- Creighton also posted her seventh double-double this season against Jackson State. She now has a double-double in six out of the last seven games and ranks 10th in the NCAA in that category.
- The last time Memphis won three-straight was near the end of the 2016-17 season. On Feb. 5, 2017, the Tigers defeated No. 20 USF and went on to win the next two against Tulane and East Carolina. That was the span where Memphis won five out of six during conference play. Â
- The Tigers gladly welcomed back to the court Brianna Porter against UAB and she continues to make a crucial impact for Memphis. Since Porter's return, the Tigers are pulling down over 42 rebounds per game.
- Although she scored just two points in the win over Jackson State, Breigha Wilder-Cochran made a crucial impact in other ways. Against the Tigers, Wilder-Cochran recorded season-highs in steals (4) and assists (7).
