Logan Carey Signs with Memphis Baseball
Nov 20, 2017 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Logan Carey, an outfielder for Walters State Community College, has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the University of Memphis baseball squad for the 2019 season, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced.
"We are thrilled with Logan's decision to become a Tiger. Adding him to our 2018 recruiting class gives us an experienced outfielder and hitter that we expect to fill a variety of roles in our 2019 lineup. He has the ability to serve as a run producer as a middle of the order type hitter, and can score runs at a high level with his speed. He will be a great addition to our outfield as we get hit with graduation in that area in 2018," Schoenrock said.
Carey played in 43 games with 23 starts as a true freshman at Alabama in 2016. He totaled 18 hits with four doubles and added two RBI, 10 runs scored and 12 walks in his first collegiate baseball experience. He will play his sophomore season at Walters State in 2017. In high school, Carey helped lead the University School of Jackson to state championships in both 2012 and 2014. He earned All-State honors in his final two seasons, while also being selected to the All-West Tennessee First Team in 2015. In 2016, he was named the West Tennessee Hitter of the Year. Carey also received the Richard Fite Student-Athlete Award as a senior.
Carey is the son of Jimmy and Jenny Carey. His father, Jimmy, played baseball at UT Martin.
