Quick Turnaround For Women’s Basketball With Trip to Little Rock

Tigers will take on the Trojans in Little Rock Sunday afternoon
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team hits the road after a thrilling overtime victory in the home opener to take on Little Rock Sunday afternoon. Tipoff against the Sun Belt Conference foe is slated for 3 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark.

The Tigers are coming off of a thrilling, 79-75, overtime victory in the home opener against Tennessee State Friday evening. It was the fifth-straight home opener Memphis had won and in her 10 seasons in the Bluff City, head coach Melissa McFerrin is 7-3 in home openers.
Cheyenne Creighton registered her seventh career double-double with a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor Barnes recorded a career-high eight assists and in all, five Tigers scored in double-digits. From the floor, Memphis shot 50.0 percent and over 44 percent from beyond the arc.
Senior Brea Elmore extended her consecutive made three-point streak to 23 games after hitting the first trey she took against Tennessee State. She ended the game with 12 points and five assists including the game-tying lay-up as time expired in regulation.
A Look At Little Rock
Sunday's game is the season opener for Little Rock, a team that finished the 2016-17 season with a 25-9 overall record and 17-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans were selected second in this season's preseason poll just behind UT Arlington.
After winning the Sun Belt regular season, Little Rock fell in the conference tournament to No. 5-seeded Louisiana by a score of 79-71. With the regular season championship, the Trojans earned a berth in the WNIT where they defeated Southern Miss in the opening round before falling to Alabama by two, 55-53, in the second round.
The Trojans graduated its top two scorers in Sharde' Collins and Kaitlyn Pratt. The two combined for almost 30 of the team's 62 points per game. Monique Townson and Keanna Keys are the lone seniors on Little Rock's squad. Head coach Joe Foley is entering his 15th season at the helm of the Trojan program.
