Tigers Show Big Improvement in FAMC Intercollegiate

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. - The Memphis Tigers showed the best improvement from round 1 to round 2 in the field at the Franklin American Mortgage Company (FAMC) Intercollegiate at the Grove, and stand 12th in the field heading into the final round on Tuesday afternoon.
Ole Miss leads the field with a two-round score of 572 (-4), while Georgia Tech had the second-best improvement and its -12 on the day drops the squad to a 573 (-3). Middle Tennessee State (582), Cincinnati (589), and Liberty (590) round out the top five teams in the field.
Rodi Vlasveld had a four-under 68 on the round, including five birdies, a bogey, and 12 pars on the par-72, 7,368-yard course. The sophomore opened play on the back nine on the course, and had a birdie on his second hole to put him at a stroke under par on the day. he was never above par on the second round, and he had birdies on the 16th and 17th holes.
A bogey on his 12th hole of he day saw his score rise to -2, before birdies on the fourth hole and the eighth to close the round with a -4. His two total scores have him at +2 over the tournament, and in 15th place in the field.
Freshman Borja Martin also finished under par on the round with a one-under 71. Opening play on the 10th hole, he recorded a bogey off the start, and two birdies over the next five holes dropped his aggregate score to -1. A bogey on the 16th hole pushed him to even, where he stood through five straight pars.
Birdies on the fourth and seventh holes dropped him to two strokes under par, before he closed the round with a bogey on his final hole of the day, ending his round at -1, and at +14 over the two days, which is tied for 57th.
Junior Brad Bawden finished the second round at +4 on the day, and +12 over the two rounds, which is tied for 52nd among the players in the tournament. Chase Harris was the team's No. 4 scorer for the team with his +7, 79, and is 66th in the field through two rounds. Nick Giles carded a second-round 80 (+8), and his +23 for the tournament sees him at 67th in the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Colin Dubnik also finished under par on the day with a 71. He opened play with three consecutive pars, before a birdie on the 13th hole dropped him to a stroke under par. Two more pars followed, before he recorded a double-bogey on the 16th hole to push him to a stroke over par.
He birdied the 18th hole to drop back to even, before recording the team's only eagle on the day on the 539-yard par-five second hole. Standing at -2, two straight bogeys pushed him back to even par. He closed the round with a birdie and four pars to close the day at a stroke under par, and at +8 for the tournament, which is tied for 34th.
For the team's final round, it will be paired with South Dakota State starting at 9:20 a.m. on the 10th hole. Giles (9:20), Harris (9:28), Martin (9:36), Bawden (9:44), and Vlasveld (9:52) start out for the Tigers, while Dubnik goes in the following pairing at 10 a.m.
