COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. - On the final day of the Franklin American Mortgage Company (FAMC) Intercollegiate at the Grove, the Memphis Tigers climbed a place in the standings, ending the tournament in 11th place overall.
Georgia Tech shot a round-low for the second consecutive round, carding a 279 (-9) to take the tournament title at 852 (-12). Ole Miss (-4), Kennesaw State (+10), Middle Tennessee (+10), and Liberty (+17) rounded out the top five teams in the field.
Brad Bawden led the charge for the Tigers in the final round, including a six hole stretch in which he was four strokes under par. His 70 on the day dropped his overall score to +10 for the tournament, which is tied for 34th in the field.
Freshman Borja Martin had a strong start to the day before stumbling down the stretch. He opened play with five consecutive pars, before birdies on the 15th and 16th holes dropped him two two strokes under par. A bogey heading into the turn sent him to one stroke under par through nine holes.
Another birdie on his 11th hole put him back to two strokes under par; however, a bogey a hole later, followed by a triple bogey on the sixth hole put Borja at two strokes over par. He birdied the seventh hole, as a double bogey and par put him at four strokes over par for the round. Overall, his +17 for the tournament tied him for 51st in the field.
