ABOUT THE COURSE
After a nine-month renovation, the new and improved Turtle Point Golf Course reopened October 1, 2016 to rave reviews from members and guests. Late in 2015, Jack Nicklaus, along with the members of his architectural team, surveyed the course and made recommendations for the improvements. Renovations included refurbishing green complexes, re-grassing the greens, tees and fairways with Paspalum, rebuilding all bunkers, laser leveling all tee boxes, including the range and reestablish irrigation throughout the course.
Rated 48th on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Golf Course List Turtle Point is a low-profile golf course that delivers a high caliber golfing experience. Players from the Carolina Amateur, the Carolina PGA, the South Carolina Amateur and the 1990 PGA Cup Matches will all agree that the Turtle Point Golf Course is a true test for strategy and accuracy.
LAST TIME OUT
Producing scores of 281, 281, and 285, Memphis took ninth in the 15-team field at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational. The three-day total of 847 proved to be the eighth lowest 54-hole team score in Tiger history.
Individually, Memphis was led by Bawden who carded rounds of 68, 66, and 70 to finish in a tie for third place. Bawden's round of 66 was the ninth-lowest round in program history and it was his first top-10 appearance since joining the Tigers.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Tigers now are off of competition play until Feb. 26-27, 2018 when Memphis travels to Hilton Head Island, S.C. to compete at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
