MEMPHIS – Five of the nine members of the University of Memphis women's golf team from last season were named to the Women's Golf Coaches of America (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team it was announced by the organization, Tuesday.
Seniors Ashleigh Whisenant and Julia Gerlach led the wave of Memphis players on the list of 828 players from across the country who posted a GPA of 3.50 or higher to earn the academic honor. Junior Leighann Cabush and sophomore Emily Goldenstein each earned repeat honors, while freshman Sydney Colwill made her first appearance on the list.
Gerlach graduated from the University of Memphis back in May, while Whisenant already had a degree in hand prior to last season and continues to work on her master's degree.
