MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Eighteen members of the Memphis baseball team will scatter across the country to play in eight different summer collegiate leagues. The Tigers will have five players in the Ohio Valley, three in the Great Lakes, two in the Valley, two in the Futures League, two in the Prospect League, two in the Cape Cod, and one each in the NECBL and Coastal Plains.
The Ohio Valley's Fulton Railroaders will have three Tigers on the roster, including a returning player in Jacob Elliott as well as Alex Smith and Hunter Smith. Tyler Walton and incoming player Kyle O'Keefe will suit up for the Hoptown Hoppers.
James Muse and Trent Turner made the trek to the northeast and will play for the Brocton Rox of the Futures League. Turner was a big addition to the Tigers as a JuCo transfer and started 43 games in 2016.
Colton Neel and Jason Santana will also be teammates this summer, playing for the Springfield Sliders of the Prospect League. The pair played significant roles in their first season with the Tigers.
Licking County of the Great Lakes will have Bryan Cruse, Nate Fichtner and Nick Vaage on the roster this summer. Both Fichtner and Vaage redshirted for the Tigers in 2016.
Right-handed pitchers Jonathan Bowlan and Alex Hicks will play for New Market of the Valley League. Both pitchers had strong endings to their freshmen seasons with solid outings in the American Athletic Conference tournament.
Drew Crosby and Trevor Sutton are both out on their own with Crosby set to play for Plymouth of the NECBL and Sutton planning to suit up for Martinsville in the Coastal Plains.
