Men’s Tennis Wins at Middle Tennessee

Tigers grab wins at top three singles spot to seal win.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis men's tennis team (13-8) got wins from the top three slots in the singles lineup and won the doubles point in a 4-1 win at #64 ranked Middle Tennessee (14-6), Friday afternoon.
Memphis started the afternoon with a 6-2 win at one doubles and a 6-3 win at three to take the early 1-0 lead in the in-state match.
Memphis took a quick 2-0 lead with Ryan Peniston's 6-0, 6-1 win at two singles and Kai Lemke grabbed a 6-3, 6-0 win at three for a 3-0 lead. Middle Tennessee fought off one match point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at four singles, but Andrew Watson grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win at number one to seal the victory. With the match decided, and with a Saturday morning neutral match on tap against VCU for the Tigers, the remaining singles matches were abandoned.
Memphis, who has now won six of their last seven matches, will play against VCU, Saturday, at 11 a.m.
