The University of Memphis men's golf team will open its fall season on Monday when the Tigers play host to the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club.

"We are excited to welcome 12 teams to the City of Memphis and Colonial Country Club," Memphis second-year head coach Blake Smart said. "The golf course is in great shape and as always will be a good test for everyone."

The Tigers' five-golfer lineup is led by returning upperclassmen Lars van Meijel and Thomas Perrot.

Last year, van Meijel played in nine events including all six tournaments of the spring season. The returning junior finished last season with a 73.50 strokes per round average.

Perrot, the lone senior on this year's team, led Memphis in scoring a year ago, playing in all 10 tournaments and finishing the season with a 73.07 strokes per round average.

Rounding out the Tigers' lineup for Monday and Tuesday is returning junior Eithel McGowen along with two transfers, Sydney Chung and Taylor McCullum.

McGowen played in all 10 tournament of the 2014-15 season, averaging 74.79 strokes per round. Chung joins the Memphis program from Lipscomb while McCullum is a transfer who previously played at UAB.
