Memphis Baseball Adds Catcher Sam Nozicka

Sam Nozicka, a catcher from Grayslake Central High School (Illinois), will join Memphis Baseball as a member of the 2016 class, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Friday.

"We are thrilled with Sam's decision to become a Tiger," said Schoenrock. "We love his work ethic, his leadership and his ability to defend from behind the plate. Sam will be a great addition to our 2016 roster."

Nozicka has earned all-conference and all-area honors as a catcher for Grayslake Central. He also helped his team to third place in the state in 2014 and a fourth-place finish in 2014. The Chicago native was a member of the Phillies Scout Team that won the championship at the 2014 Aviator Invitational. Nozicka, a National Honor Society student, is also a member of the varsity football team.

He is the son of Steve and Geri Nozicka.
