RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Memphis men’s golf team completed NCAA Regional tournament play Saturday, shooting 873 (+21) and finishing 10th.
Junior Cory Gaylord finished tied for 20th overall with a final score of 215 (+2) after a round of 74 (+3), a round that included his 8th eagle of the season, tying him for 3rd most in the nation for the 2013-14 season.
Freshman Lars Van Meijel had the low round of the day for the Tigers, shooting a 73 (+2), finishing tied for 32nd with a score of 218 (+5) overall. After two round of even par Friday, Thomas Perrot struggled with a round of 81 (+10), giving him 223 (+10) overall and a share of 49th place.
John Luke Tyner finished a stroke behind Perrot with 224 (+11), and Will Pearson finished a one behind Tyner with a 225 (+12). Tyner shot a 74 (+3) on Saturday while Pearson shot a 75 (+4).
Top-seeded Georgia Tech finished first with a score of 825 (-27), followed by Washington, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Florida State, all five teams will advance to the National Championship tournament hosted by Wichita State in Hutchinson, Kansas May 23-28.
