MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Texas high school product Jacob Ryan singed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Memphis men's track and field team for the 2013-14 season head track and track and field/cross country coach Kevin Robinson announced on Tuesday.
"Jacob is relatively new to the sport of cross country and track and field," said Robinson. "He has just recently begun running at a higher level, in a more competitive atmosphere. I feel that he will add depth to our cross country and distance rosters, and will develop to be a major contributor to the program. I am very happy to have Jacob join us here at the University of Memphis."
Ryan competed at both Geneva School of Boerne (1A Private School, TAPPS) and Boerne-Samuel V. Champion High School (4A Public School, UIL) in Boerne, Texas. At Geneva School of Boerne, Ryan ran cross country and track along with playing baseball, wining state championships in singles tennis (2011, 2012) and cross country (2011). Ryan earned All-State Cross Country (2009, 2010, 2011) and All-State Tennis (2010, 2011, 2012).
At Boerne-Samuel V. Champion, Ryan lettered in cross country winning the State Championship in 2012. Following his championships season, Ryan earned All-District, All-Region second team and All-State cross country honors.
