Goalkeeping Standout Becca Brown Signs With Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Grapevine High School goalkeeping standout Becca Brown has signed to join the University of Memphis women’s soccer program for the 2011-12 season as announced by head coach Brooks Monaghan on Friday. Brown is the seventh of 13 signees in the 2011-12 signing class.
“Becca Brown is a very talented goalkeeper and another player that we look at as the future of this program,” Monaghan said. “Becca is a player with all the tools and we think she has the mentality that it takes to be a top-class goalkeeper. As I have mentioned before with our goalkeeper coach Jonny Walker, when we sign these types of players, the sky is the limit. She has all the tools you look for in a top keeper. When she gets in our atmosphere, we believe she will only get better and better.”
Honored nationally as a Wendy’s High School Heisman Award recipient in 2010-11, Brown led her high school squad to two, 5-5A District Championships. Brown was the MVP of the 2008 Nike-Red Bull Invitational Showcase of Champions.
Brown played on the club level for the D’Feeters 93 squad. Under the tutelage of coach David Pfeil, the D’Feeters claimed the 2008 and 2010 USYS Region III Premier League West Championship. Member of the South Texas State ODP Team in 2003-04, North Texas State ODP Team since 2007, ODP Region III Pool since 2008 and claimed the ODP National Championship in 2009.
Brown is the daughter of Paul and Diana Wagner and Bill and Rachel Brown.

Notes: A L’lle-Bizard, Quebec, Canada, native, Kylie Davis was named the 2010 Quebec Female Player of the year. Davis helped the Renegades claim medals in 2007-10 play, including gold medal honors in the Provincial Championships in 2009. On the club level, Davis played for coach Rudy Doliscat and the Lac-St-Louis Lakers. Played in the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in September of 2010 which was held in Trinidad and Tobago Davis helped the U17 Canadian National Team claim the CONCACAF Championship in 2010. She is a current member of the Canadian U20 National Pool. Davis is the daughter of Joanne and Steve Davis. | ||||

Notes: The Alberta, Canada native, Alex Craig received Rookie of the Year and MVP honors during her prep career. Craig also spent time with the Edmonton Victoria Soccer Club under head coach Rick Haxby. Member of the U13-U16 Alberta Soccer Association provincial teams from 2005-09 and played for the U18 Alberta, Canada Summer Games team. Earned seven Alberta Provincial Championships with the Sherwood Park Rangers (U12-U16). With the Edmonton Victoria Soccer Club, earned Major League Provincial Championship in 2010.
