Former Memphis Netter Amrit Narasimhan Makes ITF Doubles Final

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Former University of Memphis men's tennis standout Amrit Narasimhan made the finals in the doubles division of the Mexico: Torneo Valentin Ruiz Obregon Championship with his doubles partner Javier Herrera, a former junior college teammate.
Narasimhan and Herrera defeated doubles tandem of Vamsee Chappidi and Lazaro Navarro-Battles, a former top-300 player, 6-3,6-4 in the round of 16. They then knocked off Joesph Cadogan and Mikiah Vea 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before winning over Chris Letcher and Marvin Baker 4-6,6-3, 10-8. Letcher and Barker were coming off a victory in the previous week's ITF event.
The duo was then upended in the finals by Marcelo Arevalo and Alex Llompart. This was Narasimhan's second tournament on the ITF circuit this season. He fell to Chris Kown 6-1, 3-6, 4-6 in his first singles event back.
Narasimhan transferred to the U of M from Tyler Junior College and found immediate success. He was named the 2007 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year in addition to being a member of C-USA's All-Conference Second Team.
