LEXINGTON, Ky.—Jonathan Ply fired a one-under-par 70 to lead the University of Memphis golf team into sixth place after one round at the UK Bluegrass Invitational. Memphis posted a team score of 287 in the opening round and is six strokes back of leader Miami of Ohio.
Fly’s opening round 70 earned him a share of sixth place individually. Brandon Bunn and Lexus Keoninh both posted consecutive 72’s the opening rounds and tied for 25th position. Jack Belote and Carlson Cox both turned in back-to-back 73’s and are tied for 42nd.
Second round play was suspended due to darkness. Players will return at 8:45 a.m. (ET) to finish their rounds. The third round, following a shotgun format, will immediately follow. Miami of Ohio grabbed the opening round lead by posting a team score of 281.
UNC-Greensboro (282) was the only other school to post an under par score in round one and is in second place. Murray State turned in an even-par 284 to land in third place.
