The Memphis men's soccer team lost 1-0 to the UCF Knights on Saturday night in Orlando. Memphis moves to 1-6-0 on the year with the loss. Central Florida is now 3-3 with the win. The Tigers are 0-1 in C-USA play, while UCF is now 1-0 in the conference.
The lone goal of the game was scored in the 59th minute of the game when Kevan George took a deflection off of teammate Joe Crowley and put the ball past Memphis goalkeeper Michael Goodlett from six yards out. The goal is George's third goal of the season and his third second-half goal of the year.
Memphis took 13 shots, including two shots on goal. Central Florida had 11 shots. The Tigers' Brian Farrell had four shots on the contest and Ryan Ruble had two shots.
The U of M played a man down for the final twenty minutes of the game after Memphis senior Jordan Lynn was ejected from the match.
Goodlett, a native of Bolton, Miss., earned the loss, while UCF's Johnson notched the victory.
Memphis will take on Missouri State in their next game on Wed., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Mike Rose soccer complex.
