Tigers to Host Tulsa for Cancer Kickers Night

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team returns home to host Tulsa Saturday night at 7 p.m. The match will serve as Memphis' Cancer Kickers Night and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The two programs are looking to gain footing in the early stages of American Conference play, as Memphis secured its first points with a 3-2 win over UAB, while Tulsa is winless in its first two matches of the conference slate against Charlotte and South Florida
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (2-4-3, 1-1-0 American) secured a 3-2 win against the UAB Blazers in its most recent matchup, snapping a five-match winless streak.
In the matchup between the Tigers and Blazers, Memphis jumped out to an early two-goal lead before UAB equalized. In the 84th minute, Saad Chaouki found the game-winning goal off an assist by Adam Aboohamidi.
Team play has been at the core of Memphis' success this season as three Tigers have three or more assists, with Adam Aboohamidi and Luciano Galizzi each registering four on the season. Galizzi is also tied with Saad Chaouki for the team lead in points with six and Chaouki is Memphis' leading goal scorer on the year with three in nine matches played. Chaouki is also second in minutes played (739) behind junior defender Dino Stavros, who has recorded 766 minutes played on the Tiger back line.
Senior goalkeeper Filip Sabatti returned to net in Memphis' 3-2 victory over the Blazers, recording four saves en route to his second win of the season.

Each of Tulsa's five goals this season have all come from different players. All five goal scorers are returners from the Golden Hurricane's 2024 squad, with the most noteworthy being 2024 American Conference All-Freshman Team selection, Alex Cunningham. The sophomore defender currently leads all outfield players in total minutes with 630.
A key factor in the matchup will be senior defender Wes Bottenburg. Bottenburg, the 2025 American Conference Preseason Defender of the Year, made his first appearance of the season in Tulsa's most recent match against South Florida.
The Golden Hurricane have been anchored in goal by sophomore goalkeeper, Carlito Saylon. After starting three matches as a true freshman, the Sporting KC Academy product has spent every minute of the 2025 season in goal for Tulsa, logging 24 saves and carrying a .706 save percentage.
