MEMPHIS, TENN. - Senior safety Wesley Smith has accepted an invitation to participate in the All-American Classic to be played January 15 in Las Vegas at Sam Boyd Stadium.
Smith is the second Tiger in as many years to be invited to Las Vegas as linebacker Tim Goodwell played in last year's senior event. He will be joined by five other players from Conference USA - WR Mike Walker (UCF), OT Jeff Perrett (Tulsa), QB Lester Ricard (Tulane), OG George Batiste (USM) and SS Curtis Keyes (Marshall).
This year's game is slated for a 1 p.m. PT kickoff, and will be shown live and re-played again during prime time on the NFL Network.
A native of Oxford, Miss., Smith missed the Arkansas State game with a thigh bruise. It was the first game that he had missed in his career as a Tiger. He currently ranks fourth on the squad in tackles with 34 and has registered a forced fumble and two pass breakups this season.
