Memphis, Tenn. - The Memphis women's cross country team is set for its fifth meet of the season as the squad prepares for Saturday's Rhodes Invitational to be hosted by Rhodes College at Plough Park in Memphis.
The meet will mark the second and final local meet of the season for the Lady Tigers, who are coming off a second-place team finish at last weekend's Harrier Classic.
Junior Daniele Riendeau, who took home top individual honors at the Harrier Classic, has led the U of M in eight of the last nine races and will look to continue that trend Saturday.
Freshman Emily Malinowski and Junior Mary Clarie Dake have built relatively solid holds on the second and third positions on the team heading into the stretch run.
However, a battle is heating up between freshmen Carolyn Corbett and Meghan Shinkwin, juniors Sarah Janecek and Becca McMahon and senior Nora Nemere to grab the four remaining spots in the team's top seven, and performances at the Rhodes meet should go a long way in determining postseason positioning.
The women's portion of the Rhodes Invitational is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
For fans interested in attending the meet, Plough Park is located off Walnut Grove Road between I-240 and Germantown Road, with the race course positioned on the north side of the park near the Mullins Station Road entrance.
Results and a recap for the Rhodes Invitational will be posted at gotigersgo.com following the completion of the meet on Saturday.
