LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (1-4, 0-1 C-USA) dropped a 6-1 decision at UALR, Tuesday afternoon.
UALR won both the No. 1 and 2 doubles matches to claim the doubles point and swept the doubles as Memphis had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match due to illness and being down to just five healthy players.
Freshman Brooke Cowie picked up Memphis' lone point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Jenna Hirdle. The rest of the matches were decided in straight sets, with three of the four going to tiebreakers before being decided.
The Lady Tigers will host three Conference USA schools this weekend, as UAB, DePaul and Saint Louis roll into town for three days of league matches. Memphis will face Saint Louis, Friday, beginning at 2:30 p.m., depending on the weather.
