Women's Tennis Falls to Auburn-Montgomery, 4-3

Memphis, Tenn. - - The University of Memphis women's tennis team won three of the top four singles matches, but it was not enough as Auburn-Montgomery downed Memphis, 4-3, Friday.
AUM won the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to take the doubles point and then junior Juliana Piumatti made is 2-0, AUM, when she downed Memphis' Betsy Card, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
Memphis battled back with three-set wins at No. 1, 2 and 4 singles to make the score 3-2, Memphis. But AUM's depth at No. 5 and 6 sealed an AUM victory, 4-3.
After winning their first four matches, the Tigers have gone 2-4 in their last six matches and are now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Conference USA. Memphis will host Troy State University at 9 a.m., Saturday, at the HPER Courts on the campus of the U of M.
