Erik Schoenrock made a name for himself as an All-Conference pitcher playing for his father, head coach Daron Schoenrock, at Memphis from 2011 to 2013. Now he joins his father's coaching staff as a student assistant in 2016.
As a coach, Schoenrock has already experienced a high level of success. He served as the pitching coach at St. George's and helped lead the team to a state championship in 2015. Schoenrock also coached for the Licking County Settlers of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
Following a stellar career at Memphis, the lefthander was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 11th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. He spent two seasons in the Padres’ organization and tossed one solid season for the Class-A Eugene Emeralds, where he was named a Northwest League All-Star and posted a 2.51 ERA in 14 starts.
Schoenrock was named the Conference-USA pitcher of the Year in 2013 after he posted a 7-4 record and a 3.02 ERA in 15 starts for Memphis. He logged 98 1/3 innings and struck out 86 batters.Â
For his career, Schoenrock was 11-10 with a 4.03 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 154 innings pitched.
