- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Dexter Jenkins became an assistant coach at Memphis in April 2026.
Jenkins joined the Tigers after three seasons in Statesboro as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, helping them to the Sun Belt regular season championship in 2025-26. Overseeing the guard room, Jenkins guided guards Destiny Garrett and McKenna Eddings to Second and Third Team All-Conference selections, respectively. Garrett led the Eagles in points (15.1) and assists (3.9), and Eddings ranked fifth in the conference with 33.8 minutes per game and hit double figures in 22 games.
In the 2023-24 season prior to Haden's arrival, Jenkins helped guide a GS squad that set a new single-season record for blocked shots (159) and developed wing Terren Ward to an All-Sun Belt Conference player behind 22 points per game.Â
Jenkins has also had assistant coaching stints at Saint Francis, Winston-Salem State and Northwestern (Ohio). He began his career as a graduate assistant at North Carolina Central, eventually working his way into a director of operations role before his first coaching gig at Northwestern in 2017-18.Â
He received both a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in physical education from NC Central. He and his wife, Shaleema, are the parents of two children, a son, Dade, and a daughter, Shi.
