- Brian passed from sudden cardiac arrest when Tyrese was six years old
- Ida died of kidney failure when Tyrese was 13
- He is the third-youngest of 12 children in the family
- Has eight brothers and three sisters
- Credits his grandmother, Annie Williams (she passed away in spring 2023), and his oldest brother (Brian Jr.) with raising him after the loss of both parents
- Wears jersey number 4 to honor his mom’s birthdate (born on August 4, 1971)
- Played football (running back and cornerback) until the age of 12, when he switched to basketball
