A native of Pleasantville, Iowa, Brock Busick was hired in August of 2022 and promoted to Associate Director of Integrated Communications in July 2024.
In his role with the Tigers, Busick serves as the primary media contact for the Memphis Football and Memphis Baseball programs, facilitating media coverage and creating and disseminating press releases, game notes, media guides and other materials for the football and baseball teams.
Before coming to Memphis, Busick spent a year in the athletics communications office at the University of Iowa, serving as the primary contact for Hawkeye track & field and cross country. Busick handled all media inquiries regarding coaches and student-athletes, meet notes, social media, record keeping and also served as the team’s photographer on the road.
At Iowa, Busick successfully promoted NCAA Indoor 400-meter runner up Jenoah McKiver to USTFCCCA Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year and Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year honors and numerous weekly honors. Busick also promoted former World Champion hurdler and Iowa Director of Track & Field Joey Woody to USTFCCCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year honors. Additionally, Busick handled social media planning and execution for the Iowa men’s indoor track & field team as it defended its Big Ten Championship.
Prior to Iowa, Busick worked for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder as a communications intern during the COVID-19 pandemic season in 2020. Busick assisted with game notes, distributing press releases, weekly social media tasks and staffing all home games for the Thunder. Additionally, Busick assisted with the same duties for the OKC Blue, the NBA G League affiliate of the Thunder.
Busick got his start in athletics communications as a sports information intern as a student at Oklahoma State University. Busick started in 2018, working closely with the Cowboy baseball and wrestling programs. His duties included assisting with press releases, website material, in-game social media and staffing games for all of OSU’s varsity sports.
In 2019, Busick took over as the primary contact for Oklahoma State cross country and track & field. The Cowgirls were Big 12 cross country team champions and Busick was behind the lens to capture the team’s title. Additionally, Busick handled all in-game social media and postgame recaps for OSU baseball during its Big 12 Tournament Championship and Super Regional run in 2019.
Busick graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in sports media with a communications emphasis.
