Tigers Register a Historic Win Against the Rebels

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team (3-6) defeated Ole Miss (6-3) in four sets inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
The win marks the Tigers' first victory over Ole Miss since 2018 and their first home win over the Rebels since 2005.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Ole Miss opened the match on a 7-3 run before Memphis responded with a service error and a kill from Caitlyn Little. Nina Moorer and Shayla Meyer answered with a kill apiece, sparking a 6-0 run to build a 16-7 advantage for the Rebels. Memphis cut into the lead with a 3-0 spurt, but Ole Miss closed out the opening set 25-13 behind a late 4-0 run.
Both teams traded points to open the second set before Kaylee Parker sparkplugged a 9-0 Tigers run for a 16-8 lead. Ole Miss battled back within striking distance, but late kills from Little secured the 25-18 set victory to tie the match at 1-1.
The Rebels jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third frame before Memphis mounted an 8-0 run—ignited by an Arianna Mongare kill—to pull away for a 25-16 set win.
After Ole Miss took an early 7-4 edge in the fourth set, Memphis surged ahead behind a 5-0 run. The Rebels saved match point and tied the set at 24-24, forcing extra points. A clutch kill from Amanda Hardt followed by an Ole Miss ball-handling error sealed the 30-28 set victory and the match for the Tigers.
