Porterfield, Mullerova Victorious at Joey Haines Invite

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Memphis throwers Meghan Porterfield and Adela Mullerova secured victories in the discus throw and javelin, respectively, at the Joey Hanes Invite on Saturday.
Porterfield logged a throw of 46.38 meters for her third career victory in that event. Mullerova won the javelin with a throw of 47.53 meters, marking her third career victory in that event.
All in all, Memphis brought home two victories, 17 top-five finishes and six personal-bests. A full list of the two victories, top-five finishes and PRs can be found below. Comprehensive meet results can be found in the link above.
On Friday, Porterfield threw a career-best in the hammer throw event at 55.16 meters for a fourth-place finish. She was joined on the discus leaderboard by teammates Jazmyn James and Gianna Clayton. James secured second place with a mark of 45.12 meters, while Clayton followed with a throw of 43.23 meters.
The Tigers also found success in the shot put, with both the men's and women's teams reaching the podium. Amir White threw a personal-best 15.59 meters to take third place, while Clayton secured second on the women's side with a mark of 12.75 meters.
Memphis returns to action next week in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the Crimson Tide Invitational on Friday, April 10.
