O’Connor Leads Tigers After Opening Round of American Conference Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's golf team delivered a powerful opening-round performance Monday, finishing day one of the American Conference Championships in a tie for second place.

Competing at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club, the Tigers carded a 16-under-par 272. Memphis ties with Rice and remains just one stroke behind the leader, Charlotte (-17).
Senior Cian O'Connor surged to the top of the individual leaderboard, firing a 7-under-par 65. O'Connor holds a one-stroke lead over Charlotte's Seb Cave heading into the second round of play.
Diego Lourenco backed O'Connor's performance with a 5-under 67 to sit in seventh place, while Yixiang Wang and Christian Morneau both carded rounds of 2-under-par 70 to end the day tied for 14th.
The Tigers look to maintain their momentum during the second round of The American championships, which begins Tuesday, April 28.
