Randall Shatters 5,000-Meter Record, James Claims Shot Put Title at American Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Robert Randall broke the school record in the 5,000-meter indoor run Friday, clocking a career-best 14:22.44 at the American Conference Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Tigers recorded four top-five finishes along with 11 personal-bests throughout the weekend. A list of top-five and PRs can be found below. Comprehensive meet results can be found at the link above.
Jazmyn James secured the lone victory for the Tigers, recording a career-best mark of 16.34 meters in the shot put. Her performance currently ranks No. 36 in Division I.
In the field events, Oageng Mdlela and Natalie Albert both earned third-place finishes. Mdlela jumped 15.46 meters in the triple jump, while Albert recorded an 18.16-meter toss in the weight throw.
On the track, the 4x400 relay team of Kouto Anyika, Jacari Simpson, Bryson Wilson and Courtland Noble finished third with a time of 3:10.64. That time ranks 65th nationally.
The Tigers open their outdoor season March 20 at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Mississippi.
