No. 9 Tigers Nipped by No. 5 Ole Miss on the Road

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 9 Memphis Rifle dropped a tight road decision to No. 5 Ole Miss, 4731 to 4722, Saturday in Oxford.
The Tigers posted a 2345 in smallbore and a 2377 in air rifle for a 4722 aggregate, finishing just nine points behind the Rebels, who recorded a 2350 smallbore, 2381 air rifle and 4731 overall.
Memphis placed five shooters among the top 10 in the aggregate standings, led by Emmet Bodrogi, who finished second overall with an 1185 (589 smallbore, 596 air rifle), just one point behind the top aggregate score of the day. He also finished with the top smallbore score with 589 and 32 centers.
Gabriela Zych turned in another strong performance, placing fourth overall with an 1183 after shooting 587 in smallbore and 596 in air rifle. Katrina Demerle added a seventh-place aggregate of 1178 (584 smallbore, 594 air rifle), while Sophie Cruz placed eighth with a 1175 (585 smallbore, 590 air rifle).
Megan Jaros rounded out the Tigers' top five in the standings, finishing ninth with a 1172 (579 smallbore, 593 air rifle).
In air rifle, Memphis placed four shooters inside the top 10. Zych and Bodrogi each fired 596s to tie for third, followed by Demerle in sixth (594) and Jaros in seventh (593).
Ole Miss was paced by Audrey Gogniat, who claimed the individual title with an 1186 aggregate, including a meet-best 599 in air rifle.
Memphis will look to bounce back on Sunday when the Rebels visit R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range at 8 a.m.
