No. 9 Memphis Edged by No. 5 Ole Miss in Regular-Season Finale

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - No. 9 Memphis rifle closed out the regular season Sunday with a 4740-4723 loss to No. 5 Ole Miss at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range in Memphis.

The Rebels claimed the team title behind a strong air rifle showing, posting a 2390 in the discipline to offset Memphis' 2344 in smallbore and secure the 17-point victory. Ole Miss finished with a 2350 in smallbore.

Memphis stayed within striking distance throughout the day, led by a pair of standout individual performances. Emmet Bodrogi paced the Tigers with an aggregate score of 1188, finishing second overall after firing a 590 in smallbore and a 598 in air rifle. Gabriela Zych added an 1180 aggregate (586 smallbore, 594 air rifle) to place sixth overall, while Katrina Demerle followed closely with a 1179 (585 smallbore, 594 air rifle) for seventh.

Sophie Cruz contributed a 1176 aggregate (583 smallbore, 593 air rifle) to round out Memphis' counting scores. Megan Jaros posted an 1165 (577 smallbore, 588 air rifle) to tie for ninth overall.

Ole Miss was led by Audrey Gogniat, who turned in the top individual performance of the match with a 1192 aggregate, including a match-best 594 in smallbore.

With the regular season complete, the Tigers will now turn their attention to postseason as they prepare for the NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 21 in Oxford, Mississippi.
