Memphis Rifle Edged by Murray State at Home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis rifle team came up just short Wednesday, falling to Murray State, 4721-4715, at the Memphis Rifle Range.
In a tightly contested match from start to finish, the Racers used a strong air rifle performance to edge the Tigers by six points in the aggregate score. Memphis posted a 2342 in smallbore and a 2373 in air rifle, while Murray State recorded a 2337 in smallbore and a 2384 in air rifle.
Individually, Emmet Bodrogi paced the Tigers with an aggregate score of 1182, finishing second overall and just two points off the meet's top mark. The freshman fired a 585 in smallbore and followed with a 597 in air rifle.
Sophie Cruz added a strong showing with a 1178 aggregate, placing fifth overall. She led Memphis in smallbore with a 588, the second-highest score in the event. Gabriela Zych was close behind, placing sixth with a 1177 (586 SB, 591 AR), while Katrina Demerle finished seventh at 1174 (583 SB, 591 AR).
In air rifle, Bodrogi again led the Tigers with a 597 to place third overall. Kenlee Ewton turned in a 594 to finish fourth, while Demerle and Zych each posted 591s.
Murray State's Carlotta Salafia earned the top individual honor with an 1184 aggregate, powered by a 598 in air rifle.
