Desrosiers Jr.'s Record Night Powers Tigers to 55-26 Victory over Owls
Sep 27, 2025 | Football
Memphis has now scored 20 or more points in 45-consecutive games – the longest active streak in the nation – dating back to a 33-28 win over Tulane on Nov. 27, 2021. The 5-0 start is the best since 2019, where the Tigers also started the season a perfect 5-0.
Dating back to a win over UAB during the 2023 season, Memphis has forced at least one turnover in 21 of its last 25 games. Over that stretch, the Tigers have created 44 takeaways (24 INT, 20 FR).
Memphis struck early, stringing together a four play, 75-yard drive that was capped off by quarterback Brendon Lewis' fifth rushing touchdown of the season. En route to the score, Lewis connected with Jamari Hawkins for a 42-yard reception, the third consecutive game that the duo went long on the team's first drive of the game.
Placekicker Gianni Spetic added in a 52-yard boot before the end of the first quarter to give the Tigers a 10-7 lead.
After trailing for most of the second quarter, the Tigers charged down the field in the final three minutes of the half and got the go-ahead punch in from Greg Desrosiers Jr. on a two-yard run.
The legs of Desrosiers Jr. opened up shop for the Tigers in the second half when he broke loose for a 90-yard sprint on the team's first drive of the half to make it an eight-point advantage for Memphis. The run was Desrosiers Jr.'s longest touchdown run of his collegiate career and the longest scoring run by a Tiger since 1966.
Lewis and former Nevada teammate Cortez Braham Jr. connected for the seventh time in their careers to open the fourth quarter; Lewis dropped a dime to the back corner of the endzone to Braham Jr. for the two-score lead with 14:55 remaining in the game.
It was Braham Jr. again in the fourth quarter when Lewis found him streaking across the middle of the field and shot out in front of the defense for his second score of the night and extended the Tigers lead out to 38-26. The catch marked his longest career reception and gave Braham Jr. his first multi-touchdown game of his career.
The Tigers weren't finished yet; after a 25-yard field goal from Spetic, Desrosiers Jr. added in his third touchdown of the game. Just a minute later, after Jayden Flaker recovered an Owl fumble, Lewis hit pay dirt on a 15-yard run right into the endzone to give Memphis the 55-26 victory.
The 31 points in the fourth quarter were the most points scored by the team in a single quarter since Memphis put up 35 in the third quarter against Bowling Green in 2016.
On the defensive side of the ball, DeMarco Ward led the team with nine tackles while Sam Brumfield and Everett Roussaw Jr. both added in eight.
Lewis finished the game 13-of-19 for 196 yards and two scores. He added two touchdowns on the ground along with 60 yards. Desrosiers Jr. put up 204 yards on 19 carries with three scores while Braham Jr. caught six passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
New this year, fans are encouraged to purchase early and save. Ticket prices will increase by $5 during game week and again by an additional $5 on game day at the Box Office. This change helps support enhanced planning for security, concessions and staffing. Historically, over 90% of single-game tickets are purchased during game week.
Season ticket prices remain unchanged from 2024, following a perfect 7-0 home campaign. With prices averaging under $25 per game, season tickets remain the best value for Tiger fans. Tickets can be purchased online at GoTigersGo.com or by calling the Memphis Ticket Office at (901) 678-2331.
